PISP A2A

How does €100 go through a PISP (e.g. TrueLayer) from France to Germany?

TPP on XS2A (TrueLayer-style pay-by-bank): not a bank-consortium overlay. The PISP initiates; the ASPSP still settles SCT Inst (or SCT).

Payer country

Where the payer’s account is. Cut-off times and the usual network can change.

Which network

The system between banks that actually moves the money — not the app you tap.

How it ends

The money arrives, the other bank refuses, nobody answers in time, or a bank later asks to reverse a credit (recall).

Actor labels

Plain names (Payer / Beneficiary), ops shorthand (Orig / Bene), or ISO account sides (Dbtr / Cdtr). On SDD the creditor is Orig.

What this country changes for the payer’s bank.

Cut-off

SCT batch cut-offs follow your bank’s STEP2 submission window (often late afternoon on TARGET days). Instant is 24/7.

Reachability

Euro SCT / SCT Inst reachability is near-universal in SEPA. French ASPSPs are widely on TIPS and/or RT1.

Local notes

STET PSD2 API is common for PISP initiation in France; clearing remains EPC ISO 20022.

  1. 01

    Payer→Merchant

    €100t+0

The payer chooses pay-by-bank at checkout (e.g. TrueLayer). A TPP — not a bank consortium overlay.

Merchant checkout → PISP (XS2A), not Wero/Bizum proxy

  2. 02

    Scheme→Payer’s bank

The PISP initiates the transfer at the payer’s bank over open banking (Berlin Group / STET).

PISP XS2A payment initiation → pain.001 at the ASPSP

  3. 03

    Payer→Payer’s bank

The payer authenticates at their bank (SCA), not in a scheme wallet.

    ASPSP SCA (redirect or decoupled)

  4. 04

    Payer’s bank→Clearing / settlement

    ≤10 seconds if SCT Inst

The ASPSP sends SCT Inst (or SCT) into clearing — same rail as a bank-channel transfer.

pacs.008 INST on TIPS/RT1 when instant

  5. 05

    Beneficiary’s bank→Clearing / settlement

Settlement completes. The PISP polls payment status; it does not run the CSM.

pacs.002 ACSC; TPP GET /status is not clearing

  6. 06

    Scheme→Merchant

The PISP tells the merchant the payment succeeded.

PISP webhook / status to merchant
